Since opening this April, Yun-I Reproductive Center 💟 has completed its first outcome statistics report 📈
In the second quarter of 2020, from April to June, the pregnancy rate per embryo transfer cycle, calculated as pregnancy cycles divided by transfer cycles, was 83% for women under 38 and 50% for women over 38. The overall average pregnancy rate across all ages reached 66%.
Among these pregnancies, 79% resulted from natural cycle transfers, and 67% involved the transfer of only one embryo.
Combined with historical statistics from the Health Promotion Administration, the following points can be observed:
- In natural cycle embryo transfer, patients do not use any medication, so endometrial receptivity is not affected. This allows for an optimal implantation rate.
To avoid the health risks that multiple pregnancies may pose to both pregnant women and fetuses, the international trend in reproductive medicine is moving toward Single Embryo Transfer.
Yun-I has strong confidence in our laboratory’s embryo development rate. Therefore, transferring a single embryo is our principle.
Compared with the 20.5% single embryo transfer rate among reproductive centers in Taiwan in 2018, Yun-I’s high pregnancy rate demonstrates our capability and proves that Single Embryo Transfer is clinically feasible.
- Pregnancy success rates decline as the age of women undergoing treatment increases. In recent years, the rising age of patients entering treatment has become a common challenge for reproductive centers.
For women over 38, Yun-I was still able to maintain a 50% pregnancy rate, which is truly valuable and encouraging. We will continue to conduct research and make further efforts in this area.
- Every summer, the Health Promotion Administration releases Taiwan’s assisted reproduction statistics from two years prior.
Because women who became pregnant in 2018 gave birth in 2019, the official 2018 statistical results are released in 2020. The pregnancy rate per embryo transfer cycle in 2018 was 47.4%.
Historical data show that Taiwan’s assisted reproduction success rates have continued to improve and remain internationally competitive. This is something the reproductive medicine community in Taiwan can be proud of.
